Foreclosures Make For Rocket Docket in Fort Myers Area
July 6, 2009
The local Lee County court system in Florida has been totally
overwhelmed by the foreclosure crisis, so much so that a backlog of
cases needing to be heard by the court has existed in numbers between
20,000-30,000 for the past year. Critics are calling for mediation to
interrupt the process, while others feel the best road to recovery for
the community as a whole is to continue turning over the houses as
quickly as possible.

Bracing For Next Round Of Foreclosures
July 4, 2009
Evidence is mounting that rising unemployment numbers, combined with
the end of foreclosure moratoriums, will trigger a new housing crash
and flood the already-saturated market with even more foreclosures. The
optimistic take is that home values will not decline quite so much with
this new wave, though.

Mostly Negative Numbers In Property Market Report
July 4, 2009

fundamentals in U.S. real estate. The first quarter of 2009 was awful,
dropping nearly 80% compared with 2008’s sales figures. The report’s
best news was that loan originations weren’t declining at quite the
precipitous rate that they were in 2008’s final quarter.

S&P Case-Shiller Index May Overweight Foreclosures
July 2, 2009
This is an article from News N Economics that proposes an emerging
bias toward foreclosure sales in the heavily relied upon S&P
Case-Shiller home price index. The index’s limited sampling pool from
harder hit metro areas can be blamed for the skewed numbers.
